These tops have a replaceable marker in the center, so when you spin them on top of a sheet of paper, they draw loops, squiggles, circles and spirals. If you set the paper on a tray or cookie sheet, you an dip and shift when the top spins, controlling the design. These are super cool for learning about rotation, revolution, mathematical shape creation, the relationship between speed and time, and more. We sell additional markers to switch in and out to expand your color options (not included) - it makes a nice gift set. Tip: we have been refreshing ours for years by adding drops of food color to the marker tip!
